Is the Statue of Liberty still closed to the public. ?

Just curious we are planning our trip to New York. Which is in October and just wanted to know. It says something about a museum and ellis island but everything else closed. So does that mean you can't go up in the Statue. If not do you know of a good place to take a picture of the skyline. I mean we are going to the Empire State building but that would be pictures from above. The Statue would have been the perfect place for the pictures, Any info would be appreciated.

The SOL is opened to the public, however, you can't get into the torch (only employees can) and the crown. The crown has been restricted since 9/11 for safety reasons as in an emergency, it is difficult to exit quickly and safely.

It may reopen soon tho but I don't know when. The National Park Service has gone from "We are keeping this closed no matter what you say" to "We are taking steps to get this reopened"

You can get into the Monument but it requires reservation* in advance and two security screening; going to the island and before entering the Monument.
